The lights shine clear through the sodium haze

I took some photos on the way back from the party on Saturday night.

Very late at night, amateur messing about stuff.  I was taken by how pretty the blurry street lights looked through the rain spattered windscreen

Mr N kept telling me off cos the flash would be freaking other drivers out, thinking they'd been papped by a speed camera

I took some more when I got home

I bought the beaded stole thing from a charity shop a few days before and was desperate for an excuse to wear it.

Can you tell I've discovered Bokeh?

  1. You've really captured what it feels like driving at night in the rain Lucy, I love that feeling, especially with some good music playing, you feel safe from the world I think. Have you got the picfx app? It has a few different bokeh effects. I'd love to have those white lights all over the house but Pat constantly goes on about them being a fire hazard, he's got a mania for unplugging everything in case it spontaneously combusts. xx

  5. I cant get over how pretty the street lights look, you could almost mistake them for Fireworks. The images are magical and christmassy. And the photos of you are pretty sprakley too, brilliant. And I do believe that dark nights = Twinkly lights xx

  6. Those photos are absolutely magnificent! You look gorgeous!
I've just been on that bokeh link. Very clever, Was trying to work out how the hell to do it. Looks complicated. I operate a point and shoot camera so prob a bit out of my realm! x

  9. Love your Bokeh inspired photos Lucy, and your beaded thingy, you always find the best things in charity shops. I haven't been charity shopping in a while because it takes such a long time to do it properly. Hope you had a great Halloween!

  13. Love a bit of Bokeh!! I need to use it more. You've created a magical world out of mundane things and terrible weather. And yourself. You are definitely never mundane. Xxxx

  16. Jon swirls the camera is a figure-of-eight movement with the flash on which has a similar swirly effect. I've never heard of bokeh but I'll drop it causally into the conversation next time he does it and see if he's impressed!
You look beautiful in these, your hair looks really dark and pretty and that sequinned collar thingy is gorgeous. x
