Talking 'bout Monroe and walking on Snow White

Sometimes a thinking person has to overlook their constant awareness of life's ambiguities in order to function in the real world.  Yes Uncle Walt was a member of the 'Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals' and yes, he may or may not have been a Nazi sympathiser.  But, taken purely at face value, The Disney Corportion has made some heartwarming films that have touched many a childhood.

At least that's what I told myself when we spent 3 glorious sun drenched days in Disneyland Paris

Any guesses what my favourite Disney film might have been...?

OK, so I may have got caught up in the atmosphere

It's pretty hard not to to be honest

Here is me hyperventilating with excitement in the Alice in Wonderland labyrinth.

I visited this part of the park several times during the course of our time there, hence the different outfits

"Mr Rabbit, oh Mr Rabbit..."

"Hey you there, stop kicking that mackerel"

 "a..e..i..o..uuuuuuu"

"Pardon me, but Mr 3, why must you paint them red?"

OK, I'm indulging myself a little here, but I absolutely adore everything Alice!

This queen was broken.  I thought she still looked quite intimidating

Bumping my head

The doormouse looking completely stoned

Tea at the March Hare Tea Rooms - yes please!

"Why you're nothing but a pack of cards"

My come hither look (see what I did there)

We honestly enjoyed ourselves so much that the time just flew.  Most importantly, Miss 6 loved every minute and was completely fearless when it came to going on all the rides

Obviously, we also explored the non-Alice parts of the park

They had C3PO!

Yeh that's right, the ears look better on me biatch

It's always quite funny seeing French people trying to recreate the all American experience.  The staff were generally fantastic, especially the guy who dressed up as a Jedi warrior and stayed in character to entertain the kids (and adults) queuing for the Star Tours experience

Incidentally, do you like the dress I'm wearing?  I received some nice comments about it on my last post.  It was sent to me to review by Warehouse

Here's what it looks like on the site

It was hard to choose just one dress as they have so many pretty, pastel coloured beauties on the site at the moment.  It arrived just before we went away and I was so glad as I absolutely wore it to death.  So much so that it didn't seem necessary to do a seperate post as there are so many photos of me wearing it here.  It's comfy, stretchy, versatile and definitely my go-to dress of the moment.  A major thumbs up from me.

Although I didn't buy very much on this holiday, I did come away from Disney with these 3 badges

So what about you?  Have you ever been to Disneyland?  Would you?  Do you have a favourite Disney film?

If they don't dance well they're no friends of mine

First, how about a spot o' Spring inspired gubbins...

...courtesy of Tumblr

Well hasn't it just been a glorious bank holiday weekend here in the UK!

On Saturday we went to our friend's wedding in Bridgnorth.  I think it may just have been the most perfect wedding I've ever been to.  I took lots of little phone snaps but will just share a few anonymous ones as the happy couple specifically requested that no pictures be shared via any social networking sites

It included a beautifully decorated village hall, abundant fairy lights, bunting, the most delicious smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis I have ever tasted and later on, incidental music which included Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smiths and Stevie Nicks.

The weather stayed balmy and bright and there were party games for kids and adults alike.  I took part in a jolly game of musical hats accompanied by this song which I haven't been able to get out of my head since

There were gift bags for the children, a treasure hunt, and a photo booth with props aplenty.  My little miss danced all night until the bitter end.

We followed this with an overnight stay in Llanfyllin where we joined some family for a meal and some lazing in the sun

Good food and icecream was the order of the day... peach melba and lemon meringue since you ask!

All in all, a delightful weekend.  I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and that the sun continues to shine wherever you are

I See You Standing In a Weird Red Light

Here are some more pics from last weekend's trip to Ludlow.

They don't call Shropshire the garden of England for nowt.

Nothing like a spot of gambolling about in the castle ruins.  Please excuse my hair in these pics.  My attempt at a messy french knot didn't quite work out and it sort of ended up resembling a depressed pony tail.

I wore:-

Dress and beads - charity shop
Sandals - Dotty P's
Tote - Gift from Edie

The church was quite something

I couldn't resist tinkering with these pics to embellish how awesome the light looked blazing through the stained glass

Tomb of Henry VIII's older brother

I found the charity shops for the most part were ridiculously overpriced, so I didn't buy an awful lot.

Except this vanity case £4.99 Oxfam

Already seen and commented on (thank you ladies) in my last post

I thought this was going to be my only thrifted find until I turned a corner and found the Cat Protection League.  Run by a  group of eccentric cat loving ladies, it had some fabulously priced treasures

Alfred Meakin tureen £3

A big table full of fabric remnants all 50p each

These vintage 50's and 60's edition children's books were between 20p and 50p each.  As opposed to round the corner in one of the hospice shops where very similar books were in the "collectables" section priced at £8 apiece.  Yeh right!

I know charity shops exist to make money and it's all for a good cause but when you can buy new items for the same price or less than goods that, often do not warrant the tag 'vintage', it doesn't inspire you to spend more money than you feel you need to.

I take my hat off to the women of the Cat Protection League!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody
