So as most of you know I'm pregnant right now. Whatevs. I'm 32 weeks, permanently exhausted and absolutely huge. Like comedy sketch, stick a pillow up your dress huge. I can barely sit upright due to exhaustion and when I'm not working or you know, doing necessary living stuff, you'll find me in a state of deep slumber
Towards the beginning, while I still had the energy, I scoured the web for maternity wear inspiration and found it to be pretty damn scant. Why do terms like 'classic' and 'understated' seem to go hand in hand with articles on pregnancy style. Ugh.
I say thank goodness for bloggers

I found Bianca's blog Goodnight Little Spoon completely by accident and it's since become one of my favourites. Bianca was pregnant when I discovered her blog and I was very impressed with her creative maternity wardrobe. Little did I know that before too long I'd be referring back to it for inspiration. I just love her use of colour, her cardigans and the quirky finishing touches.
Colour, cardigans and quirky accessories are also all staples of one of my favourite blogging ladies Marissa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles
Longtime readers will know what a big fan I am of Marissa's style (see this post). Recently I just loved how she sailed through her pregnancy without missing a beat. She looked exactly as unique and beautiful as she always did.
I've managed to get by so far without buying too much in the way of maternity clothes. A couple of dresses and some mama tights notwithstanding. Even though the way I look has taken a back seat lately. Still, thank goodness for the unique and talented ladies of blogland to keep me and similarly placed ladies of expanding girth inspired with their colour, creativity and uncompromising uniqueness.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so uncomfortable Lucy. Those bloggers you featured have such great style, I shall be hopping over to take a peak at their blogs now! x
ReplyDeleteOh Lordy, you are bringing back memories, Lucy! I didn't love being pregnant, though I really wanted to; I never felt that sense of blooming, I just felt uncomfortable and huge and missed my body in its usual state! I know it's an incredible thing, growing a whole new human being, and I was glad to be able to do it, but I didn't find it easy. The bloggers you have featured have certainly managed their pregnancy wardrobe with great style and panache, good for them.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy, sleep as much as you possibly can (it will be in short supply in a couple of months' time...) and well done on winning the Modcloth/Polyvore whatsit. xxx
Wow 32 weeks where has that gone. I loved being pregnant well with my first i did not so much with my second as i was huge and he was a big baby. I was lucky not to have to buy maternity ware either just the next size up of normal clothes. The bloggers you have shown all look gorgeous. Enjoy the last few weeks and take lots of care, dee xx
ReplyDeleteAhhh I didn't know you were pregnant, massive congratulations! How exciting! Sorry to hear you've got to the uncomfortable part now, but not long left to go at least. Take it easy, and a very happy new year to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the mention lady! I hope you're feeling okay. My last month of pregnancy was probably my favourite - I had some weird burst of energy and was speed-walking up the hill to my house and was probably more active than I had ever been before! I hope you're lucky enough to get that too! I had a little laugh at my belly in that bottom photo - I was 40 weeks there and my belly was so ROUND AND HUGE. Finding clothes that accomodate a growing belly was so hard, but thankfully I was able to buy a couple of simple, stretchy things (maxi skirts, leggings, maxi dresses) and then pull things from my wardrobe. Towards the end though it was a real struggle! Congratulations on baby growing!
ReplyDeleteYou are the sweetest Lucy! Thanks so much for featuring my maternity dress. I can't believe you are 32 weeks already! Hope you are feeling some strength from day to day. I know it gets hard to want to move at all. With my first pregnancy I gained 65 pounds and was so incredibly swollen at the end, all I wanted to do was sleep as much as I possibly could. But of course, in the end it's completely worth it :-). Wishing you a happy and very healthy last couple months..you're nearly there! xo Marisa
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy, congrats on your pregnancy and I hope everything is going well! I love your style, hopefully you'll have time to check my blog out? I'm quite new to the world of blogging!
ReplyDeleteTake it easy xo
You look so cute. I love all your outfits but my favorite one was the dotted sweater.
