I recently spent some time in the sprawling New Galloway countryside.
Just down the road from our deserted rustic cottage was a 17th century church
Just down the road from our deserted rustic cottage was a 17th century church
Spooky dancing children on these crumbling tombstones
The weather was wet and overcast for most of the week
It was the perfect place to contemplate the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and the major life changes ahead
I love tombstones that look like sacrificial tables
5 months in I am weary, tearful and distinctly lacking in glow. Impending motherhood this time around has manifested itself as an all out attack on my equilibrium.
But this part of Scotland at this time of year presented a welcome break and an ideal environment for gathering one's thoughts and spending treasured time with loved ones. Photographs couldn't do justice to the miles and miles of unkempt and unspoilt countryside and vast rugged landscapes. Pretty it certainly isn't, but it is so wild and beautiful

Beautiful and pretty are often two very different things.

What gorgeous photos Lucy! The pictures are perfect for Halloween and yet they are more tragic than errie...The table made me think of the 'The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe' when they sacrifice Aslan. I love your outfit too...very cute...hope you feel better soon xx
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pictures, I hope you start to feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteI've missed you Lucy.....I hope the next 4 months go as well as possible for you & your little family. Xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, I do love an old graveyard. I'm not familiar with those table style stones though, wonder if it's something exclusive to Scotland?
ReplyDeleteSorry you're having a rough time, you certainly look anything but! xxx
Lovely colors, on you and your surroundings. Its a very very tough journey , that mummy thing, I hope you get as much rest as you can and musical, family oriented and culinary distractions to uplift you!
ReplyDeleteWell, you obviously look better than you feel, Lucy! It's tough, growing a new human being.
ReplyDeleteGotta love a wild and moody landscape, and a crumbling graveyard to go with it, how fabulous.
Hope you feel perkier soon. Look after yourself. xxxx
I love the place, it's so evocative! Perfect for this melancholic season! You look gorgeous more than ever, don't be so cruel to yourself, that dress is lovely and you kept a great figure and a perfect style! I know how you can feel in those months but trust me, it's just a phase that, sooner or later (as me in this very moment) you are going to miss!
ReplyDeleteLove xxxx

Hi Lovely, I seemed to have missed so much of your posts for some reason you haven't been in my news feed since I had to cancel my blog and start up another one. I have just clicked the follow button again so hopefully now I can keep up to date, not that I have been in blogland much lately. 5 months pregnant ;-) Congratulations I am so excited for you. It is tiring but you enjoy the magic and the build up but rest up to if you can. I think you look as gorgeous as ever. Glad you liked my red boots ;-) Fat face sale about 5 years ago they always tend to come out at this time of year. Take lots of care lovely, dee xx
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always the most dreamy and haunting at the same time and I just love that! I felt like that 5 months in as well - but you can't tell! You still look as gorgeous as ever!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful pictures, and beautiful you. i love the atmosphere, kinda haunting but makes me curious :)
ReplyDeleteI never saw this post for some reason Lucy, glad I found it eventually because you always make such beautiful evocative images, I love getting away somewhere wild and remote to clear my mind and it looks like you found a perfect place to do that. Hopefully the worst of these feelings have passed for you too, pregnancy is a real rollercoaster for your emotions and energy levels. You look lovely in these pictures, even if you weren't feeling it at the time. xx
