Inbetween Days

So according to the calendar it's officially Spring.  OK in theory, but in principle venturing out with just a cardigan and blazer tells quite a different story

What to do with those inbetween days...

Dig the pastel tights out

Paint nails in favourite colour combinations

Get used to being back at work

Fresh fruit for breakfast

 Build up the vinyl collection

Sort out paperback overspill

Scratch my kitsch itch!

Amongst other things

Headspace

Does anyone else ever experience a love/hate relationship with their blog?  My main problem is over thinking.  Do people actually want to read my nonsense?  Should I post less?  How do I keep things superficial and light when crazy stuff is going down?  Should I do serious more?  Should I do outfits more?  What do people respond best to?  Should I do more of that?  What direction do I want this blog to take?  Does anyone other than me actually care?  Flamin nora, I wear myself out!

Ah well.  That's why it's good to escape now and then I suppose.

These pictures were taken on day 2 of our time out weekend at the Lake District, in a village called Hawkshead.  I can't tell you how much I love this place

We had hot chocolate and home made cake in the quaintest little oak beamed tea shop, and wandered around the warren of alleys and medieval squares in the 17th century village

Then we gambolled about in the grounds of the church on the hill and took photos.  The views were fantastic.

Yup, more gravestones

I love how this pic turned out.  It reminded me straightaway of Sherlock Holmes' bad trip in 'The Devils Foot'

I was fascinated with this series growing up.  No wonder I turned out kinda warped! ;)

We met this little chap in someone's back yard on the way back to the car

All in all, the perfect place to not overthink!

On a plain

Happy Monday everyone!

Here are some recent work outfits, this is from last week

I bought this dress in the sales thinking it would be ideal for work but when I looked back at these photos, I just wasn't sure.  The shape of it just seems designed to draw attention to my ample chest from every angle.  While wearing it I felt like I'd inserted a pair of  comedy breasts inside my dress... Blackadder style

Found here

Dress - Next sale
Leggings - goodness knows
Beads - charity shop
Bag - Primark (with charity shopped scarf)
Shoes - Ebay

I think it's possibly cut in too narrowly on the shoulders and buttoned up too high but it made me realise one thing...  I am definitely ready for colder weather!  Do I talk about the weather too much on this blog?  I suspect I do.  I posted here about the dread I feel every year when the spectre of 'summer' is on the horizon.   I've realised that it's not that I don't like sun and brightness, I just don't like humid and humid, unfortunately, is a word that sums up British 'summertime'.  That and the fact that I just want to wear cardigans again!

Here's what I wore today

Yes the opaques and brogues are out already

Nothing exciting.  You've seen the dress before, a few posts ago.  I just feel so much more comfortable in this outfit.  I can't wait to be able to layer it up with cardigans and scarves and brooches galore!

Dress - charity shop
Tights - don't know
Brogues - Next, years ago

In other news, I was recently tagged by fellow tree dweller Gem and our own pink haired artist extraordinaire Clare with the following awards

You probably already follow them but if you don't, what are you waiting for?  Be off and follow them at once!

Here are my 7 random facts:-

1.  I hate diet coke.

2.  I love cherry coke

3.  My natural hair colour is mousey blonde.  I've been dying it since I was 12

4.  I hate moths - they're evil

5.  Among many others, I currently love the words - nonsensical, disquietude, avuncular, spry and  plinth.

6.  I have just read George Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty-Four for the first time (I know, I know, I've been in a coma all my life) and it BLEW MY MIND.  I am poised to devour Orwell's entire literary back catalogue and I have added the 1984 film adaptation starring John Hurt to my rental queue

7.  Despite my initial indifference, I have really enjoyed the London 2012 Olympic Games and I think they've been great for the country

I'll leave you with a quote from Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian which I think sums it up:-

A glorious celebration of a forward-looking, outward-looking attitude, a multi-ethnic identity, confidence and self-belief. Irony and cynicism have been suspended for a fortnight, and it's remarkable how we easily learned to live without them.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Have a great week

Cheese, Wine & Existentialists

Check me out I've got an iPhone and I'm not afraid to use it!

Me covering my face because I had no make up on and looked knackered

I love this frame, courtesy of 'Monki Mi'.  It reminds me of the 1961 comedy classic The Rebel

The best 'art' film ever made

I could be an Anthony Hancock original!

Closest I've come to an outfit post in the last week due to combination of being knackered and a general feeling of 'meh' courtesy of cruddy weather

On Saturday we had some friends over for an evening of cheese, wine and rockin' choons!

I had spent the previous 2 days in a tidying frenzy as the prospect of actual proper visitors is the only thing that prompts me to do any actual grown up housework, and all those non essential jobs that are neglected the rest of the time because I'm too knackered or can't be bothered actually get done (with the help of Mr N and my mum)

Like, we finally got aroud to putting all my thrifted pics up

 Ready to go

 Supplies!

 Ambiance darling

Best cheese ever!

Polished off this beauty

 Mid clearing up

Am I the only person who goes around taking pictures of my house when it's tidy? With me, the sheer novelty of it makes it a compulsion!

In other news, I was delighted to win a copy of Frankie magazine courtesy of Miss Tallulah Porkchop's giveaway

Check out this amazing apartment in my spiritual home, Berlin. Sigh...

This should keep me  quiet for a while

Aint blogging grand?

Back soon
