It is currently 3.30 pm here in the UK as I type. Outside, it is a dark dark shade of grey, and the rain is of biblical proportions.
In an homage to the bleak and mournful, I thought I would share some like images found around the web recently.

What I would give right now to take that bus in the murk and find myself in that rather awesome looking libary!
ReplyDeleteLove the images I know a lot of people don't like this time of year but I love it.

Great selection of images to support the weather and general feeling of malaise this time of year induces.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks not having a car and getting drenched every day, but there is some part of my brain that becomes more alert during these grim-weather spells. I've always preferred black humour.
Great pictures, it actually wasn't that gloomy in London today although it is certainly making up for it now. The wind is howling round my house at the moment, am glad I'm indoors!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautifully gothic, melancholic and rather sinister images, Lucy! Perfectly suited to this time of year. Can't do outfit photos after school anymore, it's too dark! xxxx
ReplyDeleteLast week the weather was similar here and I perfectly understand how it feels, my studio is in the basement, so I started turning on the lights early in the morning, this week was quite sunny, but I bet it's going to rain during the weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll the photos are very beautiful, I've got this sense of joyful melancholy in autumn that I'm quite enjoying this year, I feel creative, but lazy so there's nothing better for me than watching a lot of images and listen to music!
I loved the Sisterhood song, I didn't know that was a Sister of Mercy side-project, thank you Lucy that's why I love your blog!
Love xxxx
Feckin grim here, wind positively HOWLING down the chimney, I really quite like this kind of weather though, I'm a bit weird like that although I'm gutted about the loss of my favourite umbrella to the gales and I could do without hair sticking to my lipstick. Love this pictures especially the foreboding row of buildings. Sorry for my absence am having problems with the laptop. Bloody electrical stuff has a very short life round me.
ReplyDeleteWow, these pics are beautiful, especially the painting, 4th pic down. Sometimes there is beauty to be found in the dark and dreary days of winter. x
ReplyDeleteThese are so haunting Lucy! I can definitely see where you're going which the weather last night and this morning! bloody miserable! Let's hope the weekend is nicer!

Good for you for making the bleak beautiful. We must endure! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat atmospheric pics, Lucy. I do hate this time of year though! xx
ReplyDeleteI like the music with this post! Romantic/creepy - I love that combo.
ReplyDeleteIt was a horrible day yesterday that wind was so fast Mr J had to come home and secure oiur fence as it wasn't happy with the wind im counting the smashed pots this morning. Wonderful photo's that one with the bus is very spooky. Have a lovely weekend. dee xx
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love a bit of depressing bleakness sometimes? I know I do. Wycombe has been especially grim these last few days, the old factories, 60s modernist blocks and Victorian chimneys look especially wonderful. I love all these pictures you've chosen too. Definite feel of Sherlock Holmes in a couple of them. Is it you who's a fan of the 80s ITV version? I love it. I think you'll also like this very depressing song/video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz8b7GaYcFg XXXXXXXXX
ReplyDeleteBleakness at it's most beautiful. I love that top photo, especially.
ReplyDeleteHasn't it be atrocious? Perfect day for 1960s black and white kitchen sink films, a roaring fire and a bottle of rum. xxx
These are beautiful images. I really love the tones of the coloured images.
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the bus in the fog Lucy, can just imagine sitting on it looking out of the window at the world going by. Also wanted to tell you I've nominated you for a Leibster award, details are on my blog but no worries if you're not into things like that. Xx
ReplyDeleteThese was us about a week ago, the sun hadn't come out in almost 4 days. I hated it! These are dark and beautiful!
ReplyDeletePerfectly, wonderfully dreamy and dreary imagery for a cold, grey season, darl!
ReplyDeleteI send some warm sunshiney hugs your way!XXX
I love it when it's bleak and rainy outside. I wish it was like that here. It's just starting to get too hot for me. I love that first picture.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely captures the winter-y feeling at the moment.
